Typical Democrat entryist stooges have been causing much hubbub about new prospective senator, Graham Platner, who they tout as the new progressive face of senate democrats. There’s just one issue. Platner is the last thing American progressives need.
Let’s just expel some myths before we go ahead. Platner was NOT a victim of some “poverty draft”. His father, Bronson Platner, was a lawyer and her mother Leslie Harlow was a member of the petit bourgeoisie as a restaurant owner. Platner also attended private school in his teens, where he gained a reputation as a rebel. So what did this rebel do?
Joining the American Military
Now, as much as I would like joining the US military (or the military of any of its allies) to be seen as the morally appalling action it is, many American “progressives” still see it as an excusable decision , often they use excuses such as the “poverty draft”. This idea is simply an incorrect, low income households are underrepresented in the US military. The confusion likely comes from predatory recruitment tactics used in public schools to mend this recruitment gap, and a the very real draft during the American-Vietnamese war, which did actually target lower income people. Platner did not face these same conditions when he enlisted. Not only did he sign up to join the globe-spanning fourth Reich known as the US military once, he did so thrice. This bastard didn’t just go once and learn his lesson, nor does he show any repentance for what he did, often remarking how much he enjoyed being in the infantry.
Now some of you with some familiarity with this story may be thinking “wait, three tours? Wasn’t it four”. It was two with the United States Marine Corp in Iraq, one with the the Maryland National Guard in Afghanistan, then back to Afghanistan as a as “PMC” (read: hired gun) for the mercenary firm Constellis. Don’t let the name change fool you, Constellis is just the damage control re-brand of Erik Prince’s infamous outfit, Blackwater. Yes that’s the Nisour Square Massacre Blackwater. Apparently this made him “disillusioned” about his role for funnelling tax payer dollars into PMCs.And here we begin to see the problem with Platner and the people backing him. He was worried about the American taxpayers. Not the dead and injured Afghans, not he Iraq he had helped plunge into ruin and civil war. The American taxpayers. For those wondering the formal position of out team here is this:
There’s something I just want to address quickly, and that’s Platner’s Reddit account. This is probably the one place I’ll give him some slack. I really don’t care what he said on Reddit half a decade ago. I’ll take 10 of the Platners who said black people don’t tip over 1 of the Platner we have currently. And for people who harp on about the Reddit as if its his real Achilles's heal, killing people in an illegal invasion and becoming a mercenary dwarfs the evil of what a person may say thousands of times over.
The Goddamned Tattoo!
In 2007 on leave in Croatia, Platner got a tattoo “resembling” the Nazi Totenkopf. I put “resembling” in scare quotes because it did not resemble a Totenkopf, it was a Totenkopf.
In an interview with the credulous Sam Seder, Platner said he had no idea what the symbol meant and simply picked it off the wall. And while I don’t doubt that Nazi iconography is available in tattoo parlours across Croatia, what I do doubt is that a privately educated man with an internet connection somehow went from 2007 until 2025 without knowing or finding out what a Totenkopf was. Platner even goes so far as to say in this interview, that he is suspect of anyone who can identify the symbol for what it is, as if they are some closet Nazi, a clearly absurd insinuation. He has recently covered this tattoo up with a Norse design (but I’ll bite my tongue on what that could mean).
Now hypothetically, if Platner was actually just a monumental moron and legitimately has no idea what he was putting on his body, this would; 1) indicate he’s too stupid for the office, and 2) not exonerate him for parading about his military time as an asset.
The core issue here isn’t how Platner looks or what he posts, it’s what he is. A US Marine, and mercenary, and an idiot.
Preemptive Responses
I’ve left this little space at the end to answer some questions I know would come from smug and offended yanks
- Troops keep our country safe!: If you still believe this you should have your right to vote rescinded.
- You’re Australian, how could you say this: The same way I say Ben-Robert Smith should face the firing squad. All servants of empire are inexcusable criminals.
- He only did security service while with Constellis!: I don’t care if he was making fucking Xeroxes for Censtellis, working for them at all is monstrous.
- Why do you care about some American senate hopeful:What part of Globe-Spanning Fourth Reich do you not understand? The bad decisions of America reverberate around the world.
- But the American voters don’t think the military is bad: Which is exactly the problem! A good political preprogramme must engage in propaganda to correct common misconceptions among the public, not just accept them at face value and play within their parameters.
- Why are you even writing this, no one will read it?: Okay that’s actually a fair point.
- But he’s promising medicare for all!: First of all, that means nothing if you run on a Democrat ticket, which will do everything in its power to make sure that never happens. Secondly, the spoils of empire being more evenly distributed in the imperial core is not progress, the term “social fascism” is often mocked, but what else could we call that?.
